The IAH Film Fest is Coming to the State Theatre

If you’re not going canning or looking for something to do with your parents this weekend, why not check out some cool films for free at the State Theatre?

For the past two years, the Penn State Institute for the Arts and Humanities has hosted a two-day film festival at the State Theater. Past themes included “Workers of the World” and “Bad Futures;” this year, the theme is college. There’s a wide spread, from classic movies like Good Will Hunting to horror movies (Scream 2, anyone?), to more modern movies like The Social Network, to comedies like Animal House and Old School.

I would recommend Rope, a Hitchcock film about two friends who commit murder for fun and try to hide it from their professor over the course of a dinner party, and The Graduate, about a college graduate’s search for purpose as he enters a relationship with a much older woman (it also has a great Simon and Garfunkel soundtrack).

This year, all the films are free, so there’s no excuse not to go. Unless you’d rather be doing homework instead of watching movies about college. The full schedule is below.
