Dancer Update: Jerry Agosta, Hour 27

As I approached Jerry, I could see that he was starting to feel the pain of standing for 27 hours. However, desperate fleeting grimaces of physical discomfort, his spirit was as high as it could possibly be. In the middle of writing his post, the Line Dance started and so I got to snag some fun pictures of him doing a variety of hilarious movements. My favorite, and this post’s featured image: Jerry is not impressed.

Here is what he had to say:

“Wow. What a weekend. After finally getting past the overwhelming feeling of THON at first, I’m really challenging and pushing myself in order to keep going. I know it’s tough, but I know that it’s all worth it. I’ve had a lot of continued support to keep myself going until I finally hit my second (or fourth) wind. I think I finally have a true appreciation of what THON truly is. It’s all about the personal sacrifice you’re making, but knowing that it’s beyond worth the pain and stress you’re putting yourself under. I’ve had some good and bad patches up until now, and I know things will only get harder from here, but I know there’s no turning back now. I’m a dancer in THON, and I’m going all the way till the end.”

During a time when Dancer’s were cut off from the support of friends and family because of the day-long full capacity, words like these are what inspire me to forget my frustration and work harder to spread a positive message. We will be checking back in with Jerry soon enough!

Jim’s Army & Navy: The Greatest Store Ever

For those of you who have ventured onto the west side of Beaver Avenue, there is a good chance you have passed by Jim’s Army & Navy. If you are one of those people, your first thought when passing by Jim’s was most likely, “What the hell is going on in this store?” When a store’s window display boasts handcuffs (they even come in pink), switchblades, throwing stars, machetes, other swords, and ammunition, you really have no choice but to be utterly confounded. Little did I know that I was about to walk into the greatest store ever.
