Distraction Of The Day: Former Penn State Defensive Lineman Announces Retirement At White Castle
After a nine-year NFL career that included four season with the San Francisco 49ers and five with the Chicago Bears, former Penn State defensive tackle Anthony Adams announced his retirement Saturday via a YouTube video shot at White Castle.
Adams was drafted out of Penn State in the second round of the 2003 draft by San Francisco. He played in 58 games for the 49ers registering 134 tackles, 6 sacks and a forced fumble. Adams signed with the Bears during free agency in 2007. During his 63 games in Chicago he had 144 tackles, 4.5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles. Adams was also well known for his pregame dances while with the Bears.
While Adams officially announced his retirement Saturday, his last game in the NFL came back in the 2011 season. He was released by the Bears at the end of that year after spending part of the season dealing with injuries. Adams documented his free agency struggles on YouTube.
