Is Christian Hackenberg Sunshine From Remember The Titans?

There is a new long-maned Quarterback in town, and his name is Christian Hackenberg. The famous freshman has let his hair grow out, and it’s kind of a big deal. In Hack’s first interview since James Franklin’s hiring, some of the Penn State football beat reports took the time to ask the imperative question: What is going on with the state of his locks? His response, ā€œIā€™m going to let it ride and see how it goes.ā€

And why shouldn’t he? Doesn’t every quarterback want to be like the great inspirational figure Ronnie “Sunshine” Bass from Remember the Titans? Now sure, some may argue that Shane McGregor was the original Sunshine, but all he had going for him was the hair. There are a lot more comparisons to be made for Hackenberg and Sunshine, and we complied a list of the five most compelling pieces of evidence that Hackenberg and Sunshine might actually be the same person.

1. Obviously, the Hair.

2. Both quarterbacks sometimes struggle with the little things but their coaches are always there to pick them up.

3. Both have great arms.

4. Both perform well in big situations.

The above Michigan game or below Wisconsin game serve as proof.

5. They’re Kinda a Big Deal
Sunshine (aka Ronnie Bass) becomes an overnight celebrity after he becomes the starting quarterback, and the whole school is talking about him. Or at least a few girls looking through a window.

And come on, Hackenberg is easily the biggest celebrity on campus, behind James Franklin of course.

Look how he spends his time in the offseason, working on his touchdown dance because he knows its important to fine tune something that is going to be in use so often.

Plus, have you seen the people that tweet at Hackenberg? His mentions are full of Penn State legends and ESPN analysts.

So good for you Christian! Let it flow and let shine, and feel free to take inspiration from the great Ronnie Bass. Emulate him, and lead us to an undefeated season next year.
