Jamba Juice and McAlister’s Deli Coming to HUB

Smoothie lovers and baked potato connoisseurs, rejoice! The HUB renovations will bring a Jamba Juice and McAlister’s Deli to Penn State next fall.

If you are not aware of Jamba Juice, prepare for life-changing smoothies made of whole fruit, fruit juice, sherbet, and frozen yogurt. With delicious options like “Mango-A-Go-Go” and “Razzmatazz”, the students of Penn State are definitely in for a enjoyable treat during their study sessions or group meetings in the HUB.

The new Jamba Juice will be another healthy addition to the HUB’s already impressive dining lineup, which includes Mixed Greens, Wild Cactus, HUB Subs, Panda Express, and more.

“We haven’t had a smoothie bar,” said Director of Retail Dining David Gingher. “It’s been on our list for years, but we didn’t have a place for it.”

The ongoing building of the new HUB, including an Atrium, makes it possible for the dining space to seem much bigger, thus allowing for these dining upgrades.

The new addition will also include McAlister’s Deli, which offers made-to-order sandwiches, salads, and, most excitingly, a baked potato line. According to the McAlister’s website, their “Spud” line offers a large assortment of baked potato toppings, like ham, smoked turkey, bacon, cheddar cheese, black olives, jalapeños, and more.

Not only will the dining courts feature these two new eateries, but the food court’s already existing restaurants will also see some changes. For example, Wild Cactus will be renamed Blue Burrito, and Picalillies will be renamed Soup & Garden, which will feature different heated salad toppings, like chicken or salmon. A new gelato and bakery place, named Diversions, will also be added to the food court.

The plan is to have the renovations finished by next fall. “We’re hoping to be done by August 11,” said Gingher.
