Longtime equipment manager Brad “Spider” Caldwell will retire from the position after 31 years and 379 football games today.

The endearing Spider, who began his career on the sidelines as a student manager in 1983, was much beloved by fans and players. He’ll be off to serve as the Activities and Athletic Director for the Fair Haven Union High School in Fair Haven, Vt. Spider was one of the last links on the football staff to Joe Paterno’s time as head coach.
