Tell @Forbes Why @penn_state Is #MyTopCollege

OK, Penn State. The Whiteout lost the Traditions Tournament to either Ohio State or Wisconsin, so let’s bounce back and win something cooler. No excuses.

You may have seen tweets including this headline’s Twitter lingo circulating recently, like…

That’s because Forbes is trying something new this year — in addition to its normal annual rankings of American universities, it is using social media to gauge school spirit levels all over the country.

The best way to show Forbes that our school spirit is tops is to simply tweet @Forbes mentioning something specific to Dear Ol’ of which you are proud. The tweet can have a photo, fun fact, quirk…anything, really, so long as it’s State-specific.

It’s quite simple to make your tweet count for the competition. Just make sure it:

– mentions @Forbes and @penn_state,
– uses #MyTopCollege,
– and isn’t trolling.

You can also use Facebook or Instagram, if those are more your style. There is, obviously, no shortage of reasons why Penn State should be your top college. And judging by the prevalence of Penn State’s social media, we should #DominateThe@ForbesMentions with ease.

Forbes will publish its top college rankings on July 30, and some of the fun facts submitted via social media will wind up in the issue of the magazine that will include the list. Forbes has an impressive reach, with a magazine circulation approaching 1 million, Twitter following of 3.28 million, and a Facebook like count of 1.2 million. Right now, San Diego State leads the mentions with 92, followed by Boise State, Vermont, Colgate, and Claremont McKenna.

Everybody, Claremont McKenna has about 1,300 students. This should be cake. Go flood @Forbes’ mentions, and let’s see how many different things we can dig up of which we can be proud. We got you started with some easy ones.
