Google Promoting Chromebooks on Campus

Want to test out new technology while keeping your wallet the same weight? Google will be on campus today through Thursday outside the HUB promoting its new Google Chromebook, giving students the chance to rent one out free of charge.

From 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., Google will be set up in a big white tent that’s hard to miss in front of the HUB. To rent a Chromebook, you need to present a credit card and your student ID. The Chromebook is a new, lightweight laptop already preloaded with popular Google apps such as Search, GMail, and Google+. They go for about $200 on Google’s website.

Google is actually hosting events throughout the year at Penn State, which you can see in its Facebook group. If you’re in the market for a new laptop, then you might want to consider heading over to the HUB sometime this week and take a Chromebook home for a test spin. Just remember to return it, unless you like it so much you don’t mind finding a new charge on your card.
