Quarterback D.J. Crook Announces Transfer To Albany
Penn State back-up quarterback D.J. Crook followed the lead of Michael O’Connor today, announcing via Twitter that he will transfer to Albany of the FCS.

Crook, a walk-on, opened the year buried on the depth chart behind Christian Hackenberg, Trace McSorley, and O’Connor in 2014. But he was the only back-up QB to see playing time, going 6-for-9 for 47 yards and a touchdown against UMass on Sept. 20. The redshirt freshman enjoyed a record-setting high school career in Massachusetts, but only received a scholarship offer from Holy Cross. Crook’s destination, Albany, is a successful FCS program, sporting a 246-156 all-time record and finishing last season 7-5.
But with Hackenberg having re-affirmed his commitment to Penn State, playing time for Crook at Penn State wouldn’t be a reality barring an injury to the junior. With O’Connor and Crook out of the picture, McSorley and three-star commit Tommy Stevens should battle for the back-up spot in 2014.
