Mute Cities Wins Battle Of The Bands, Earns Movin’ On Opening Spot

Student band Mute Cities took the top spot at this year’s Movin’ On Battle of the Bands. The indie-rock band will now open the the

all-star lineup at the Movin’ On spring music festival.

This was the second time Mute Cities performed in the battle. Last year, the group came in second place, just losing to indie-folk band Lenina Crowne, who went on to open for rapper Wiz Khalifa.

The four-piece band originally formed in February 2014, drawing inspiration for their name from popular video game, Super Smash Bros. Current members include Derek Williams, Zach Kramer, Jonathan Callan, and Ben Visnesky.

Other student bands in the battle included William Forrest, The Trap Doors, Stuart LittleKeegan TawaKelly Barber & Dharma’s Initiative, Port VueQueue, and The Absolute Sky.

Movin’ On will take place May 1 at the IM Fields West and feature popular artists Passion Pit, Big Sean, Big Gigantic, New Politics, and Atmosphere.
