Red Land Little League Challenges Jimmy Fallon To A Lip-Sync Battle In Support Of Four Diamonds

Friends of Penn State athletics and 2015 U.S. Little League World Series champs Red Land Little League publicly challenged late night talk show host Jimmy Fallon to an “ultimate lip sync battle.” The team’s goal is to raise awareness of its fundraising efforts for Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital and the Four Diamonds Fund.

Red Land Little League manager Tom Peifer released a statement encompassing why the team decided to reach out to Fallon. “We know Jimmy Fallon is a major baseball fan and that he has a huge heart when it comes to helping children, especially those facing cancer.”

According to the release, Red Land Little League has held a variety of fundraisers in support of the Four Diamonds fund, which included a “Pledge It” drive during the Little League World Series tournament back in the summer. In its success, the fundraiser netted more than $12,586 for cancer-related research and support. Additionally, the team and its enthusiastic supporters have met both publicly and privately with numerous cancer patients to lift their spirits and further Red Land’s philanthropic efforts.

The short two minute challenge video (which already has close to 30,000 views) was filmed and posted on YouTube last week, where Red Land claimed, “With a unique mix of elite athleticism, boy band looks, and Pennsylvania chutzpah, the little leaguers brazenly predict they will defeat Jimmy Fallon on his home field!”

The video featured a little teaser of what to expect in the potential battle between the team and Fallon. Second baseman Braden Kolmansberger, the talented youngster who nailed a 30 yard field goal at a Penn State practice, opens the video dressed in a “Risky Business” style outfit and is shown lip syncing Bob Seger’s classic, “Old Time Rock and Roll.”

Right fielder Jake Cubbler and short stop Jaden Henline are also featured, performing Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now” and Jay Z and Alicia Keys’ “Empire State of Mind,” respectively.

“I hope Jimmy is up for this challenge,” Kolmansberger said. “We’d like to raise our batting average by knocking him out of the park with our lip-syncing skills. And best of all, it’s for the kids.”

Fallon hasn’t responded to Red Land yet, but hopefully a late-night, little league, lip-sync battle for the kids is on the horizon.
