Lil Wayne To Return To BJC In February

Hey Mr. Carter, tell me where have you been?

The Bryce Jordan Center announced this morning that Lil Wayne will make his triumphant return to State College on Saturday, February 27. He’ll be visiting the BJC as part of his “The Dedication” Tour with Rae Sremmurd.

Tickets range from $25 to $99.50, and go on sale on Friday, December 4 at 10 a.m. at the usual BJC ticket offices (Eisenhower Auditorium, BJC, HUB, Downtown Theatre) and online. There is a $10 student discount on all but the $25 tickets thanks to Penn State’s UPAC. Those student tickets go on sale on Thursday at noon. Finally, there are a few other presales through the LiveNation app and the Citi credit card that you can check out here.

Not much is known about the tour yet, but according to the release, The Dedication Tour is “a personal thank you from Lil Wayne dedicated to all of his fans in cities he has rarely visited on his past tour runs.”

After a brief retirement from music, Lil Wayne released an album exclusively on TIDAL in July titled Free Weezy Album, which was streamed more than 10 million times in its first week. He also released a mixtape on Thanksgiving called No Ceilings II. Wayne was at the height of his popularity in 2008 with his album Tha Carter III, a Billboard No. 1 album featuring hits such as “Lollipop”, “A Milli”, “Got Money”, “Mrs. Officer”, and “Pussy Monster”. He’s looking to release a new album titled Tha Carter V at some point in 2016 after various delays.

This will be the first time Lil Wayne will come back to Happy Valley since spring 2011, when he brought Rick Ross and Nicki Minaj with him on his “I Am Music II” Tour. While it’s not an artist close to the caliber of Kanye West or Jay Z, this will be the first rapper to perform at the BJC this school year.

Here are some songs off his newest album and mixtape, as well as a few classics.
