Leah Still Is Cancer-Free, Plans To Be A Penn State Cheerleader

Devon Still announced on Twitter last week that 5-year-old Leah beat cancer after undergoing her final treatment just a few days prior.

The daddy-daughter duo appeared on Good Morning America Friday morning to talk about the good news and Leah’s fight to kick the disease once and for all. GMA anchor Robin Roberts (who opened the interview with a standing ovation for the Stills) asked Leah, who is certainly no stranger to the spotlight, a number of questions including, “What makes you so strong?”  Cute as always, Leah responded, “I think it’s ’cause my daddy made me.” Devon then discussed how he will be returning to the NFL with the Houston Texans, to which Roberts asked Leah, “What do you like to do?” “I’d like to be a cheerleader at Penn State because my daddy went there.” The Good Morning America crew, including Penn State alumnae and 2014 Homecoming Grand Marshal Lara Spencer, erupted in cheers for Leah, featuring a “We Are.”

The three also talked about Devon’s upcoming wedding, The Knot and the Still Strong Foundation, and the dad’s advice for other parents whose kids are going through the same battle Leah did.

“Don’t give up,” Still said. “I documented our story on social media so parents that are going through similar situations can look back and see exactly what we were doing to get through those times.”

Good news on good news for the 5-year old, the Still family, and the Penn State community. We’ll see you in Beaver Stadium, Leah.
