Animal Guy And Conservationist Jeff Corwin To Speak At Penn State

Go wild with the Student Programming Association (SPA) on Friday, April 22 when TV host and environmental conservationist Jeff Corwin speaks at Penn State. Corwin will address the HUB’s Alumni Hall at 8 p.m. as part of SPA’s Distinguished Speaker Series.

Corwin is primarily known for his work as a TV host and big screen narrator who advocates for the conservation of endangered species and ecosystems. Students likely recognize Corwin from his shows “Going Wild with Jeff Corwin” on Disney Channel as well as “The Jeff Corwin Experience” and “Corwin’s Quest” on Animal Planet. The conservationist and animal lover also authored a book which he released alongside a documentary, both titled “100 Heartbeats.” Currently, Corwin hosts a documentary series on ABC titled “Ocean Mysteries,” for which he is also an executive producer.

Dealing with wild animals has brought Corwin up close and personal with some of Earth’s most dangerous creatures. In 2007 Corwin was interacting with an elephant in Cambodia that became angry, grabbed him, and threw him to the ground. For someone who does things like willingly chase after and catch black mambas, it’s amazing he hasn’t experienced anything more life-threatening.

The talk is free and open to all, and any and all animal lovers are encouraged to attend. SPA has been working hard lately to wrap up the school year with a number of performances and speakers; this week alone features comedian John Mulaney tonight (which is now sold out), soccer star Abby Wambach on Wednesday (hopefully), and rock band Smallpools on Friday.
