State College Police are currently investigating a vehicle crash that occurred last night at 11:15 p.m. A 22-year old female student was driving downtown when she collided with two pedestrians, both of whom are also Penn State students according to a release from the police department. Police believe alcohol played a part in the crash.

One pedestrian, a 19-year old female, was flown to University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Altoona for injuries sustained in the crash, while the other pedestrian, a 20-year old female, was taken to Mt. Nittany Medical Center. There is no word yet on the severity of the injuries.

The crash took place at the intersection of S. Garner Street and E. Prospect Avenue as the driver was traveling south-bound on Garner. According to the release, the driver did not sustain any injuries in the crash and blood test results are pending to determine whether or not she was under the influence of alcohol.

Our thoughts are with all involved. Police are not releasing the identities of those involved until their families are informed. We’ll update this post with more information as it becomes available.

Update 7:08 p.m.: The students involved in the accident were identified by police, as reported by The Daily Collegian. The 20-year old, Molly Kenny from North Carolina, suffered severe injuries according to State College Police. 19-year old Charlotte Moriarty of Massachusetts was life-flighted to Altoona, but both are expected to make full recoveries and be released shortly.

The driver of the vehicle, Allison Rauscher, told police she was driving 20 miles per hour when she struck the two in the crosswalk police said. Police also confirmed Rauscher was under the influence of alcohol following a field sobriety test. Investigation into events leading up to the crash are ongoing.
