[Photo Story] Inside The New Chemical And Biomedical Engineering Building

After construction that started in September 2016, the Chemical and Biomedical Engineering Building was finally completed last week. A ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the official re-opening of the building to the public.

While the building’s classrooms, offices, and labs are not fully occupied just yet, you can expect the building to be properly equipped with all the technology you’d expect before the fall semester begins.

Students have already found a new favorite study spot inside the Knowledge Commons on the first floor.
Conference space abounds in the new building, which in some spots more closely resembles a modern office space than a classroom or lab.
Moving an entire lab mid-semester is no small feat, but you can expect this space to be buzzing with scientific discovery in a couple of months.
Most walls on each floor have whiteboards attached to them from the top to the bottom, allowing people to post announcements, work, or just doodle.
Each floor above the ground floor sports a gathering area that comes with a conference room and a kitchen space.
The view gets better and better the higher you climb in the building.
The lower level includes a 150-seat lecture hall, along with a few more study spots, laboratories, and student organization offices.
No new building would be complete without space for a larger group instruction. We dare you to resist the urge to swivel back and forth on these chairs during lecture.
