THON 2021 By The Numbers

It’s safe to say that even in an entirely virtual format, THON 2021 was still a whirlwind of events. If you missed anything, let us help you out by summing things up the easy way: by the numbers.

This year, 592 Penn State students danced during THON Weekend to raise awareness and fight childhood cancer. Some were based out of branch campuses, most were supported by organizations, and a few even danced independently.

Dancers stood for 34 hours this year given the sleep breaks from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m. on Friday and Saturday night.

All dancers would’ve stood for 46 hours in the Bryce Jordan Center had we been there. Some dancers still took on this incredible feat without the energy of the BJC!

There were 16 various THON committees that worked together to pull off such a successful event. Hospitality provides dancers with food and beverages while Entertainment coordinates the various bands we see throughout the weekend. The other committees fill in the gaps and keep THON running like a well-oiled machine!

This weekend, the Dancer Relations captains gave us approximately 20 performances of the line dance, which is just enough to get it stuck in your head for weeks.

Unfortunately, there were zero pep rally winners. I guess we’ll never know if men’s gymnastics continued its four-year reign.

The THON livestream crashed only one time! It was bound to happen, folks.

Viewers from 70 countries tuned into the THON livestream this year. Overall, there were more than 165,000 unique viewers during the weekend, showing how extensive the support for THON is.

Over the past year, the THON community raised $10,638,078.62, all For The Kids! Despite the challenges, THON 2021 was one for the books and one we should all be proud of.
