Your Guide To Finding A COVID-19 Vaccine Appointment In State College

All Pennsylvanians age 16 and older are now eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. While appointments are becoming increasingly easier to get, the options available can still be confusing.

Last week, Pegula Ice Arena partnered with Walmart to administer 1,170 doses of the Pfizer vaccine to the university’s students, employees, and dependents. However, the clinic ended on Saturday, April 24.

Previously, the Bryce Jordan Center was administering Johnson & Johnson vaccines, but the operation was temporarily halted by Pennsylvania following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. That said, the BJC is now offering the Moderna vaccine.

To ease your appointment-finding process, check out our up-to-date, comprehensive list of vaccine locations and providers in State College:

Bryce Jordan Center

The BJC is offering Moderna vaccine appointments Thursday through Monday each week. Registration for appointments at the clinic is available at pema.trackmyvaccine.com or by calling 1-844-545-3450. Walk-in opportunities are also available.

Moderna’s vaccine requires two doses spaced four weeks apart. Make sure you’ll be around to come back for a second if you sign up today.

Centre Volunteers In Medicine (CVIM)

CVIM is hosting several vaccination clinics during the next few weeks:

  • Saturday, May 1 @ 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. — Mount Nittany Middle School (Dose 1 or 2)
  • Monday, May 10 @ 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. — Penn Stater Hotel & Conference Center (Dose 2)
  • Saturday, May 22 @ 8 a.m. to noon — Mount Nittany Middle School (Dose 2)

Currently, CVIM is administering the Pfizer vaccine, which is a two-dose shot spaced three weeks apart. To make an appointment for your first dose, register through an online form.

Mount Nittany Health

Mount Nittany is administering COVID-19 vaccines at various dates and times through a waiting list system. To sign up for a potential appointment, fill out an online form, and you’ll be contacted with a date and time. Mount Nittany Health is primarily administering Pfizer’s vaccine.

CVS Pharmacy

Many CVS pharmacies in the area are offering COVID-19 vaccines. Locations include 1630 S. Atherton Street, 1101 N. Atherton Street, 315 Colonnade Blvd. (inside Target), and 201 W. Beaver Ave. (inside Target), among others. Locations are administering Pfizer or Moderna, depending on the location.

To see available appointments, locations, and vaccines being administered, check out CVS’s website.

Tip: If you can’t find any available appointments, try again at midnight. If you’re living on campus or won’t be in State College for your second dose, it will probably be easier to go through CVS and set up a second appointment at a location near your home. There’s a separate link to schedule your second dose.

Additional Locations

In addition to CVS, vaccines are being offered at Rite Aid (1927 S. Atherton Street), Weis Pharmacy (110 Rolling Ridge Drive), VDI-Boalsburg Apothecary (3901 S. Atherton Street), and Walmart (1665 N. Atherton Street), among others.

To view other locations that are administering COVID-19 vaccines, check out the “Your-Turn” tool created by the Department of Health for a comprehensive list. Appointments are frequently available at Bellefonte CVS locations.

While there are plenty of options in and around State College to get your vaccine, you can also look for appointments in surrounding towns and counties. Using the “Your-Turn” tool, you can see all of the vaccine providers up to 50 miles away. Additionally, you can check out the Department of Health‘s website to view providers throughout the entire state.

As the semester winds down and folks are heading home, it’s important to be sure you can make it to your second vaccine appointment. Talk to a health care provider to determine the best option for you.

If you want to attend full-capacity football games in Beaver Stadium in the fall, do your part and get vaccinated, Penn State!
