Pennsylvania To Lift All COVID-19-Related Gathering, Business Restrictions May 31

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf announced the lift of all COVID-19-related mitigation orders effective Monday, May 31.

Additionally, the state’s mask mandate will be lifted when 70% of Pennsylvania adults are fully vaccinated. As of Monday, 50.3% of Pennsylvanians already received at least one dose, according to the CDC.

All COVID-restrictions related to gatherings, restaurants, and other businesses will be lifted at that time.

All Pennsylvanians age 16 or older are eligible to receive a vaccine. To date, 8.7 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the state.

The state-run Bryce Jordan Center COVID-19 vaccine clinic is open weekly from Thursday through Monday and available to everyone, regardless of county of residence. You can make an appointment by heading online, calling 1-844-545-3450, or even walking in while the clinic is open from noon to 8 p.m. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.

The university recently said it’s considering implementing quarantine exemptions, among other unnamed privileges, for students who upload completed vaccine cards to its online student health portal.

Penn State Athletics outlined potential plans for football attendance scenarios in the fall. Current Pennsylvania protocols allow outdoor venues like Beaver Stadium to fill to 50% capacity — about 53,500 fans following some quick math.

Next fall’s attendance policies will reflect local guidelines, and the Big Ten won’t provide any conference-wide regulations. If anything, Pennsylvania’s soon-to-be-modified guidelines bode well for a full Beaver Stadium.

Currently, the borough’s ordinance, which limits gathering sizes and enforces mask-wearing, is in effect through May 31. The Borough Council will vote Monday, May 10, to potentially extend or amend its ordinance.
