[Photo Story] Students Against Sexual Violence Protest, March Across Campus

Students Against Sexual Violence gathered at the Allen Street gates Friday afternoon to protest sexual assaults reported at Penn State over the first six weeks of the semester. To date, 13 cases have been reported by the university.

The protest began with dozens of protesters chanting against sexual misconduct, Greek life, and Penn State administrators’ lack of change on the matters. The chants were followed by a schedule for the event, as well as a few speakers demanding action.

The crowd later marched to the steps of Old Main to continue its protest. A few speakers echoed a common theme: Sexual assault is not being taken seriously enough at Penn State.

The protest also made its way along Pollock Road to the entrance of the HUB, and then back the other way toward the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity house. The organizers of the protest shared the stories of recent happenings at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where the fraternity, better known as FIJI, came under fire after a 19-year-old member allegedly raped a 17-year-old.
