Penn State’s Nicholas Singleton Named Maxwell Offensive National Player Of The Year

Penn State football’s newest top-ranked running back received a major honor on Thursday when he was named the Maxwell Offensive National High School Player of the Year.

“I am pleased all the hard work I put in is paying off,” Singleton wrote in a statement. “This would not be possible without the support of my family, coaches, and teammates.”

The honor is just the latest for Singleton, who already collected the Gatorade Player of the Year honor for Pennsylvania, and, later, the Gatorade National Player of the Year award for the entire country.

Singleton is the first Nittany Lion to receive the award in its 15-year history. Prior recipients include stars like Trevor Lawrence, Bryce Young, and Derrick Henry.

Singleton, who enrolled at Penn State this spring, is coming off of an electric high school career. He capped off his time at Governor Mifflin High School with a senior year that included 2,043 rushing yards, 41 touchdowns, and a state title.

A handful of other prospects have enrolled at Penn State this semester and officially joined the Nittany Lions. We’ll get to see the team’s newest recruits in action in just 226 when Penn State kicks off against Purdue Saturday, September 3.
