Transfer Portal Roundup: Week Three

After capturing a statement win on the road over Auburn this past Saturday, Penn State improved to 3-0 on the season and moved up to No. 14 in the AP Top 25 Poll.

Meanwhile, multiple transfers helped propel their new teams to wins in week three. Here’s a look at how many former Penn Staters fared during this week’s college football slate.

Cam Sullivan-Brown, UMass

It was a productive week for Cam Sullivan-Brown, as not only did he help the Minutemen win their first game of the season, but he also grabbed his first career touchdown.

That touchdown was one of two catches in the game for Sullivan-Brown, as he totaled 38 receiving yards in UMass’ 20-3 win over Stony Brook.

Mac Hippenhammer, Miami (OH)

Another former Penn State wide receiver had a great day, as Mac Hippenhammer scored a touchdown for the second straight week.

Hippenhammer caught four passes for 62 receiving yards, including the 36-yard touchdown. While the Redhawks had the early lead, 31 unanswered points from the Cincinnati Bearcats would prove to be too much, as Miami lost 38-17.

Will Levis, Kentucky

After an upset win last weekend over No. 12 Florida, Will Levis and the No. 9-ranked Kentucky Wildcats took care of business in their 31-0 shutout win over Youngstown State.

Despite throwing two interceptions, Levis continued his fine play by throwing for 377 passing yards and two touchdowns on 27 completions. Levis also had a rushing touchdown and a big rushing play that set up a three-yard touchdown pass midway through the second quarter.

Levis continues to improve his stock in this year’s NFL Draft, as many believe he will be one of the first quarterbacks taken in the draft.

Zack Kuntz, Old Dominion

After trailing for nearly the entire game, Old Dominion tight end Zack Kuntz was able to find the end zone late in the game to give the Monarchs the 14-13 lead.

While that touchdown gave Old Dominion the lead, Virginia was able to march down the field and kick a game-winning 26-yard field goal to win 16-14. Kuntz still had a great day, recording six catches for 83 receiving yards. After a breakout 2021 campaign, Kuntz is turning heads as a possible 2023 NFL Draft candidate.

Justin Shorter, Florida

Shorter has struggled for the Gators to open up the 2022 season. He failed to record more than two catches for the third week in a row. He hauled in two passes for 33 receiving yards in Florida’s 31-28 win over USF.
