Former Penn State Linebacker Jamari Buddin Transfers To New Mexico State

Another Nittany Lion is out the door, folks.

Former Penn State linebacker Jamari Buddin announced his transfer to New Mexico State via Twitter on Wednesday 13 days after announcing his intentions to leave Penn State. He’ll have three years of eligibility remaining.

Buddin’s tweet thanked the coaches who recruited him after he entered the transfer portal and included a screenshot of the song “Don’t Forget” by Rod Wave.

Buddin was highly recruited out of high school as a four-star recruit from Michigan. He picked Penn State in 2020 over the likes of Michigan, Michigan State, and Florida State.

Despite his talent, Buddin was never able to make a serious impact with the Nittany Lions. He played in four games his true freshman season in what turned out to be a redshirt year. In 2022, Buddin made eight tackles and recovered a fumble in nine games.

Buddin is one of several Nittany Lions to enter the portal since Penn State won the 2023 Rose Bowl in early January, joining the likes of Keyvone Lee, Jaden Dottin, and Marquis Wilson.
