Penn State Women’s Volleyball Picks Up Coastal Carolina Transfer Lina Perugini
The grind for Katie Schumacher-Cawley never stops…not even in the offseason.
The Nittany Lions have picked up 5’7″ Coastal Carolina defensive specialist Lina Perugini through the transfer portal. The former Chanticleer announced Monday that she’ll use her fifth and final year of eligibility in Happy Valley.

The Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, native was a part of the All-Sun Belt team in 2020 and picked up her 1,000th career dig in 2021. Perugini led her team with 445 total digs that season, including 14 straight matches with double-digit digs.
Perugini played all 114 sets of the Chatincleers season in 2022, earning 473 digs during her senior campaign. She even got a taste of her future home after Penn State defeated Coastal Carolina in three sets in September.
Perugini will work alongside fellow defensive specialists Maddy Bilinovic, Gillian Grimes, and Cassie Kuerschen. She’s also the fifth addition to the team this offseason, joining Camryn Hannah, Mac Podraza, Ally Van Eekeren, and Jess Mruzik.
