Former Penn State Signee Braeden Shrewsberry Officially Commits To Notre Dame

Braeden Shrewsberry is officially following his father to Notre Dame

Penn State’s former Class of 2023 shooting guard announced his commitment to Notre Dame on Monday.

Micah Shrewsberry said at his introductory press conference that his son would join him in South Bend, but now the younger Shrewsberry has made the news official.

“Braeden, [his] future home here, gets a chance to get up and shoot some threes here at the Joyce Center,” the coach said.

Shrewsberry, a 6’2″, 170-pound guard, is listed as the 185th-best player nationally, the No. 31-ranked shooting guard, and the No. 6-ranked player in Pennsylvania in the 2023 class, according to 247Sports‘ composite rankings. In addition to Notre Dame and Penn State, he had offers from Xavier, George Washington, and Saint Joseph’s.

During his senior season at State College Area High School, Shrewsberry averaged 17.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game. He previously played high school ball at West Lafayette High School in Indiana while his father was an assistant coach under Matt Painter at Purdue University.

No more committed high school players remain in Penn State’s Class of 2023. Shrewsberry joined Carey Booth and Logan Imes as recruits to request releases from Penn State. Meanwhile, Ace Baldwin Jr., Qudus Wahab, Puff Johnson, Zach Hicks, and Nick Kern make up the Nittany Lions’ incoming transfer class under new head coach Mike Rhoades.
