Three Penn State Women’s Lacrosse Players Earn USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American Honors

Pay attention to Penn State lacrosse, folks.

On the same day that five Penn State men’s lacrosse players were named All-Americans by USA Lacrosse Magazine, three women’s lacrosse players earned the same honors.

Midfielder Kristin O’Neill led the group with a selection to the All-American third team. The junior was previously a midseason All-American honorable mention and rounded out a strong season with 48 goals and eight assists leading into the NCAA Tournament. Her point total of 56 leads the team by 17 points.

Gretchen Gilmore and Ellie Hollin were both awarded honorable mentions by the magazine. The pair had earned weekly awards earlier in the years, with Gilmore taking home Co-Offensive Player of the Week on March 21, and Hollin taking home Co-Defensive Player of the Week on March 28, both by IL/IWLCA and the Big Ten.

Gilmore recorded 27 goals in the 2023 season, the second-most on the team, along with 12 assists, a team-high. Hollin notched 24 controlled turnovers, the second-highest total on the team.

The Nittany Lions return to action for the NCAA Tournament, with their first game coming against Stony Brook at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 12. Loyola Maryland’s Ridley Athletic Complex will host the game, which will be broadcast on ESPN+.
