Four-Star Safety Dejuan Lane Commits To Penn State Football

Those official visits seem to be working.

Four-star safety Dejuan Lane committed to Penn State football Sunday night, he announced via Twitter. Lane becomes the first safety and the 17th player to join Penn State’s recruiting Class of 2024.

Lane’s commitment was preceded by three-stars Deryc Plazz and Xavier Gilliam earlier in the day.

The Baltimore, Maryland, native is marked as the No. 31 safety in the country and the eighth-best player in his home state, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.

The 6’3,” 195-pound safety joins an already strong Penn State recruiting group, which is currently tabbed as No. 7 in the country by 247Sports. The group has been headlined by the top recruit in Pennsylvania Quinton Martin and fast-rising quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer. While Lane is the first safety to join the group, James Franklin can also expect the likely commitment of fellow four-star Vaboue Toure.

Lane’s commitment comes after he took an official visit to the Nittany Lions on June 2. While Lane had also received offers from Georgia, Michigan, and Wisconsin, he declined to take official visits to any other school.

With one year left of high school football, check out Lane’s Hudl highlights to see what he brings to Happy Valley.
