Penn State Football Cornerback Kalen King Declares For NFL Draft

Penn State football cornerback Kalen King has declared for the NFL Draft, he announced via Twitter. King’s announcement came one day after Penn State’s Peach Bowl loss, which he did not play in.

“I could never be who I am, on and off the field, without everyone’s willingness to embrace me and my brother as people when we set foot on this campus,” King wrote in a statement. “This program is in great hands with the leadership it has, and I cannot wait for what lies ahead in Penn State football’s future.”

King joined Penn State as one of the program’s best players in the recruiting Class of 2021. He joined alongside twin brother, Kobe, who’s one of the Nittany Lions’ top linebackers. King was involved with Penn State’s defense as soon as he arrived on campus, appearing in all 13 of the Nittany Lions’ games, making one start.

By King’s sophomore year, he was already regarded as a top player on the defense. He started in nine of the Nittany Lions’ 13 games, leading the Big Ten in passes defended (21), pass breakups (18), and was eight in the conference for interceptions (3).

King was regarded as one of college football’s best defensive backs this year and was targeted minimally by opposing quarterbacks as a result. Despite only recording two passes defended, King is regarded as a top prospect in this year’s draft.

King joined Adisa Isaac, Chop Robinson, Theo Johnson, Curtis Jacobs, Caedan Wallace, Daequan Hardy, and Olu Fashanu in declaring for the draft.
