Former Lady Lion Forward Kylie Lavelle Transfers To St. John’s
Former Penn State women’s basketball forward Kylie Lavelle has committed to transfer to St. John’s University, St. John’s announced Monday. Lavelle became the fourth Lady Lion to find a new program after the 2023-24 season, after Ali Brigham, Shay Ciezki, and Leilani Kapinus.
Lavelle came to Penn State from Drexel, where she started 23 times for the Dragons. Lavelle was named to the CAA All-Rookie Team after recording 11.1 points and 3.7 rebounds per game, good for 20th in her conference in points per game.
After transferring to Penn State, Lavelle couldn’t find the same level of success. She played 334 minutes for the Lady Lions, shooting 48.1% from the field and 38.5% from beyond the arc.
With Lavelle’s departure, Penn State has seven scholarship players on the roster. After losing eight players to eligibility and the transfer portal, the Lady Lions have brought in Gracie Merkle and Vitória Santana.
