After the success of movies like The Social Network and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, which both look at how technology shapes our world, director David Fincher has announced the story of Onward State’s founding and subsequent rise for his next project.
In his presentation last night, as part of the Student Programming Association’s Distinguished Speaker Series, Spurlock had a packed Schwab Auditorium laughing as he discussed the strange world of product placement.
In many ways, the Sherlock Holmes movies aim for the same spirit as the Indiana Jones movies. Both feature intellectual heroes with a drive for adventure, puzzle-solving based on hidden clues, fast-paced action, and witty banter. The second Sherlock Holmes movie, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, combines the action of The Adventures of Tintin (a true successor to Indiana Jones itself) with the twisting mysteries of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (which will play at the HUB in April) . Though it may not reach the heights of either of those two movies, it’s still a fun adventure to take in, and you can see it this weekend at the HUB.
Well, spring semester has been unpaused and school continues in State College, but we can still make those memories of beaches, family, and fun last. If you want to do something much more awesome than destroy Penn State's reputation this weekend, seeing this week's HUB movie is a great alternative. I saw the movie several times in theaters, and though the Muppet fan in me has a few issues, bear with me- even a lesser Muppet Movie is still a great movie.
