Center for the Performing Arts Unveils 2012-2013 Season

Every year, the Center for the Performing Arts brings some of the best acts in theatre, dance, and music to State College, for relatively affordable prices. Now, their 2012-2013 season has been announced. Here are some of the highlights.

Publishers have been trying to push digital comics, but there's no comparison to having a real book in your hand. And that's why you owe it to yourself to find your local comic book store this Saturday for Free Comic Book Day.

The Man in the Mirror, Onstage

Though Michael Jackson wasn't at the show last night at the Bryce Jordan Center, his spirit definitely was. "Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour," Cirque du Soleil's tribute to the famous singer featured his music, his choreography, and themes from his life, from childhood to saving the world from environmental harm and dictatorships. A live band accompanied Jackson's voice, while a cast of 60 dancers and acrobats displayed his style and interpreted his songs.

“Transylvania Mania” at Eisenhower Auditorium

Young Frankenstein, Mel Brooks’ classic parody of the original Frankenstein, my least favorite of his films. But how did Young Frankenstein, a musical adaptation which stopped at Eisenhower Auditorium last night, measure up? Aside from some groan-worthy humor, it definitely improved on the original.
