
After a long season which featured a 10-21 record and a season-ending injury to one of the premier players in America, there is actually some excitement around Penn State men's basketball. Of course, excitement in regards to Penn State basketball isn't the same as, say, excitement around Kentucky or North Carolina basketball, but for the first time in a while, there is some optimism beyond free hat giveaways and dollar hot dog nights.

A change of scenery might've been what Penn State needed, but it wasn't enough to pull the Nittany Lions out of its recent slump. Penn State dropped to 1-3-1 on the year after falling 5-2 to Vermont at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia yesterday.

The losing streak may have ended, but it definitely wasn't the result that Penn State wanted. The Nittany Lions failed to hold on to a 3-2 lead in the third period and tied the RIT Tigers (0-3-2) 3-3 after both teams went scoreless in the five minute overtime period. Penn State now stands at 1-2-1 on the year.

It's usually like Christmas for Penn State every time the annual NCAA graduation report comes out. This year was no different -- the rates were released today, and Penn State's numbers were stellar across the board.
