Ring in the Spring with School of Seven Bells

Do you miss Chronic Town concerts? Are you ready to welcome the warm weather of spring by jamming out? Do you feel like you need to get your weird indie fix? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you’ll be happy to know that spring concerts at Chronic Town are back, and their first show of the season will feature School of Seven Bells (or SVIIB).

For those unfamiliar, SVIIB is a trio made up of Benjamin Curtis (previously of Secret Machines) and identical twin sisters Alejandra and Claudia Deheza (formerly of On!Air!Library!). The electronica band’s style could probably be categorized somewhere between shoegaze and indie pop. They rely primarily on dreamy, ethereal synths with a pop feel under the twins’ lofty-sounding vocals. For a sample, check out the video below.

State College booking agents Roustabout! announced the show on their and Chronic Town’s Facebook pages yesterday. It’s set to go down April 3rd. Stay tuned for more details as they become available.

The band is coming off of their third album, Ghostory, released February 28th, so they should have plenty of fresh songs to lay down. This show will launch their North American tour.

Get ready. Spring is back.

Switch the Right Decision

I’m probably the only person who has spent my entire college career almost evenly divided between working for The Daily Collegian and Onward State. I feel like this has given me a unique perspective on Penn State’s media scene. And I’ve learned a great deal from both media outlets.
