John Urschel To Dish Out Mathematical NFL Draft Takes On Social Media Again

After last year’s successful partnership between John Urschel and General Electric during the NFL Draft, the guard-mathematician hybrid will run GE’s social media accounts once again today.

Urschel will take over GE’s Facebook, Twitter, and Periscope accounts at 8 p.m. using #DraftScience to provide mathematical analysis on the players selected. Fans can submit questions on Facebook and Twitter and — if you’re lucky — he just might answer. Watch out for a snapchat filter too.

“John will be applying player statistics against his own mathematic models,” GE’s University Relations Manager Tony Denhart said. “This offers followers to learn more about how forces used in big industry like thrust and power output are vital to better knowing a player’s capabilities.”

Urschel dominated the gridiron with the Nittany Lions and is a current Baltimore Ravens Guard. He boasts a master’s degree from Penn State in math and taught a section of Math 041 — Trigonometry and Analytic Geometry — one of many accomplishments during his time in University Park. He’s currently pursuing a Ph.D. at MIT during the NFL offseason.

Steve Connelly

Unfortunately, former editor Steve Connelly has graduated. Where is he now? He might be doing something related to that PR degree he got in 2019. Maybe he finally opened that sports bar named after one of his photos, the Blurry Zamboni. Or he might just be eating chicken tenders and couch surfing. Anything’s possible. If you really want to know, follow him on Twitter @slc2o.
