Teniya Page Named Big Ten Women’s Basketball Player Of The Week

Lady Lions guard Teniya Page earned Player of the Week honors from the Big Ten after helping Penn State to two wins in the past week.

Page averaged 26 points per game during the two wins, scoring game highs in both. This was also her first back-to-back 20 point performance in her college career.

She tallied 23 points and seven assists against Akron as the Lady Lions took down the Zips 84-71. In the upset of No. 13 Tennessee, the sophomore guard put up 29 points and knocked down three of her six three-point attempts to lead the Lady Lions to a 70-56 win.

Page is averaging a team-high 21.5 points per game and is second on the team with 14 assists in the four games. The Lady Lions are 3-1 at this point in the season.

Page is the first Big Ten Player of the Week for Penn State since Maggie Lucas earned the honor in January of 2014. Page won Big Ten Freshman of the Week last January after scoring a then career-high 27 points in an upset of No. 14 Northwestern.

Page and the Lady Lions return to the court for the San Juan Shootout in Daytona Beach for games against Georgia State and Georgetown on Thursday and Friday, respectively.

Maybe he finally opened that sports bar named after one of his photos, the Blurry Zamboni. Or he might just be eating chicken tenders and couch surfing. Anything’s possible.
