UPUA Hosting Meet The Borough Council Candidates Session

UPUA is holding an opportunity on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the HUB for students to get to know the candidates running for seats in this year’s Borough Council election.

“The UPUA Governmental Affairs Committee, realizing the importance of this year’s election not only to students but to everyone in the Borough, opted to host this event so voters can make the most informed decision when casting their ballot for the candidate to best represent their interests,” UPUA Governmental Affairs Chair Isaac Will said.

The event will take place in 129AB HUB. Rylie Cooper, Evan Myers, Dan Murphy, and Marina Cotarelo are confirmed candidates attending the event. Former College Republicans and Democrats presidents Michael Straw and Veronica Weyhrauch. According to the event Facebook page, light refreshments will be provided.

The primary election is set for May 16. If you’re voting away from State College, an absentee ballot must be requested by May 9 and sent back so it’s received at the Willowbank Office Building by 5 p.m. on May 12. You can download an absentee ballot form here.

Unfortunately, former editor Steve Connelly has graduated. Where is he now? He might be doing something related to that PR degree he got in 2019. Maybe he finally opened that sports bar named after one of his photos, the Blurry Zamboni. Or he might just be eating chicken tenders and couch surfing. Anything’s possible.
