Penn State Football Will Don Retro Uniform Against Indiana

It won’t be going all the way back to the original pink and black, but Penn State football is bringing back some style from over the generations for its uniform against Indiana on September 30.

Titling the celebration “Generations of Greatness,” the Nittany Lions will wear uniforms with different style options from the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s.

After teasing a throwback game throughout Thursday morning, Penn State football sent out a tweet with the design for the retro uniform.

The uniform brings back the classic numbers on the helmet, adds a number of style stripes signature to Penn State years ago, and honors the Liberty Bowl championship team in 1959 — Penn State’s first bowl game winners.

“This is a way to focus on all the different time periods in our history,” James Franklin said. “Nike’s been working on this for awhile.”
