Miles Sanders, Shareef Miller Sign Rookie Contracts With Philadelphia Eagles

Miles Sanders and Shareef Miller are officially headed to South Philly after signing four-year rookie deals with the Philadelphia Eagles Thursday afternoon.

Sanders and Miller are now the third and fourth Penn State draftees to put pen to paper with a professional team. Trace McSorley signed with the Ravens last weekend, while Amani Oruwariye agreed to a contract with the Lions Thursday afternoon.

Philadelphia selected Sanders in the second round of the NFL Draft back in April. The Pittsburgh native totaled 1,274 yards and nine touchdowns in his first season as a full-time starter in 2018. Sanders will likely start behind newly acquired back Jordan Howard, who the Eagles traded for over the offseason.

The Eagles drafted Miller in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. The Philadelphia native boosted his draft stock after an impressive 2018 season in which he totaled 41 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, and 7.5 sacks, and earned third-team All-Big Ten honors. Miller will try to strengthen the Eagles’ pass rush alongside all-pros Brandon Graham and Fletcher Cox in his rookie season.

This pair of signings is just the tip of the iceberg of Penn State’s presence in Philadelphia, as the Eagles signed Ryan Bates and DeAndre Thompkins shortly after the draft. Bates and Thompkins will compete for roster spots as the season gets underway.

Sanders and Miller will take the field as Eagles for the first time Friday afternoon as Philadelphia’s rookie minicamp gets underway.
