Ted & The HiFis Wins Battle Of The Bands At THON 2021

For the first time ever, THON hosted the Battle of the Bands during the event’s 39th hour.

The event featured two local bands, OK Otter and Ted & the HiFis, and both brought the energy needed on a Sunday morning for the event’s participants. After a fan vote via text message, Ted & the HiFis came out victorious.

OK Otter performed first, playing a mix of songs including “Hound Dog” by Elvis Presley, “Sign, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours” by Stevie Wonder, “Oh Domino” by Van Morrison, and the current popular sea chanty “Wellerman.” The band also played a cool medley of “Steal My Kisses” by Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals and “I Want You Back” by the Jackson Five.

Ted & the HiFis followed up OK Otter’s Performance with a good mix of songs on their own. They opened up with their rendition of “Valerie” by Amy Winehouse, and followed up with songs like “Kids” by popular alternative band MGMT, Fleetwood Mac’s classic song “Rhiannon,” “Juice” by current pop sensation Lizzo, and “Kiss” by the late Prince.

The event went off without a hitch, so we’ll see if THON continues to welcome it in the coming years.
