Penn State Football’s Kaytron Allen Named Big Ten Freshman Of The Week

Penn State football doesn’t have just one star true freshman running back. It has two.

Kaytron Allen was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week following his performance in Penn State’s 33-14 win over Central Michigan on Saturday. This marks three consecutive weeks in which a Nittany Lion has earned the honor, as fellow true freshman Nick Singleton took home the award the prior two weeks.

Allen was sensational in Penn State’s win against Central Michigan. The IMG Academy product rushed for 111 yards on 13 carries with one touchdown. Allen seamlessly rushed past the Chippewa defense and into the end zone to give the Nittany Lions the lead late in the second quarter.

Allen’s performance marked his first 100-yard rushing game in his collegiate career. His efforts helped the Nittany Lions move up to No. 11 in this week’s AP Top 25 Poll.

Next up for Allen and Penn State is a home game against Northwestern at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 1. The game will air on ESPN.
