Report: Mitchell Tinsley Signs With Washington Commanders As Undrafted Free Agent

One year after arriving in Happy Valley, Mitchell Tinsley is off to the NFL.

The sixth-year wide receiver was reportedly signed by the Washington Commanders after going undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Tinsley is the second Penn State wideout to join an NFL team over draft weekend, after Parker Washington was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars Saturday afternoon.

Tinsley began his college career at Hutchinson Community College, where he spent two seasons before transferring to Western Kentucky. Between 2020-21, Tinsley caught 100 passes for 1,779 yards and 18 touchdowns for the Hilltoppers.

After transferring to Penn State for his final season of eligibility, Tinsley settled in as a starter for the Nittany Lions. In his 13 appearances, Tinsley caught 51 passes for 577 yards and five touchdowns, which includes 49 yards and a touchdown in the Rose Bowl. Tinsley closed his career recording a catch in 39 consecutive games.

Tinsley is set to join fellow Nittany Lion receiver Jahan Dotson, who was selected in the first round of last year’s NFL Draft.
