Four-Star Guard Freddie Dilione Transfers To Penn State Hoops

Four-star former Tennessee guard Freddie Dilione has committed to transfer to Penn State men’s basketball, he announced Wednesday through On3. Dilione, who has three years of NCAA eligibility remaining, was the fourth transfer pickup for the Nittany Lions this offseason, joining Yanic Konan Niederhauser, Eli Rice, and Kachi Nzeh.

The 6’5,”, 195-pound Dilione is rated as the No. 81 player in the transfer portal and the No. 9 combo guard in the portal by 247Sports. In his two seasons with Tennessee, Dilione appeared in 18 games and played 93 minutes, recording 30 points, 14 assists, 10 rebounds, and six steals. He hit his field goals at a 52.2% clip while knocking down two of his seven three-point attempts.

A native of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Dilione filled out a Penn State team that lost four players to the portal. With the additions of Dilione, other transfers, and incoming commits, the Nittany Lions have 12 scholarship players on the roster and are still awaiting the decision of star guard Ace Baldwin Jr. as to whether he will stay or depart the program. Should Baldwin stay, the Nittany Lions will have filled all 13 scholarship spots.
