Penn State: Think (Inno)Blue, White and Green?

This time of the year, most employers think black. That is about to change. Today at 5 p.m., Penn State will host the first Innoblue ‘Demo Day‘ at the Beaver Stadium Recruitment Lounge. According to the event’s flyer,  it will be a “showcase of 12 companies from Penn State and State College that exemplify Innoblue’s mission of doing well while doing good, in a sustainable way.”

Innoblue was founded in April 2010 by Penn State students David Adwumi and Jon Tornetta. The organization is  “dedicated to starting and supporting innovative business, civic and social ventures” in the State College community.

In addition to the promotion of sustainability in the workplace, the organization promotes entrepreneurship by connecting “great mentors and advisers with students and ventures in need of guidance.”

Following the showcase, Innoblue looks to  launch Innoblue labs. The labs are meant to be areas open to all innovators, designers, engineers and creators. The purpose of the project is to help facilitate communication and collaboration in product production.

It is a great to hear of creative students working to improve their surroundings. Innoblue’s and Penn State’s public relations departments, however, made one error in advertising for the event. No specific mention of what “ventures” are scheduled to appear is given.
