Penn State Hoops’ DJ Gordon Transfers To Fordham

Former Penn State men’s basketball guard DJ Gordon announced on Friday that he is transferring to Fordham and becoming the latest prospect to leave the program.

Gordon, who played in only six games during the 2020-21 season, will join Penn State teammate Patrick Kelly at Fordham under first-year head coach and longtime Villanova assistant Kyle Neptune. Both players will try to carve out new roles for the Rams next season.

Gordon’s most notable performance at Penn State came against Illinois, when he played seven minutes and scored his only points of the season.

With Gordon transferring, he becomes the last Nittany Lion who entered the transfer portal earlier this year to finish the process. Trent Buttrick, Myreon Jones, Jamari Wheeler, and Izaiah Brockington all found new homes, while John Harrar and Seth Lundy have returned to play for new head coach Micah Shrewsberry.

Penn State has been active in the transfer portal early on, securing the commitments of guards Jaheam Cornwall and Jalen Pickett. However, the team will need to keep it up to fill all six of the vacant spots left by transfers. It also helps that Penn State added JUCO forward Jevonnie Scott to the team, boosting the roster with some much-needed size.
