UPUA Supports Michigan Student Body President

At their weekly meeting, the University Park Undergraduate Association passed legislation to officially support Chris Armstrong, the Student Body President of the University of Michigan who is under attack from an Assistant Attorney General of Michigan, Andrew Shirvell.

Students March Against Sexual Assault

Yesterday morning, more than 120 students came together on Pollock Road to participate in the University Park Undergraduate Association's Second Annual "Every Lion a Shrine" Sexual Assault March. A recent study by the Department of Justice shows that 1 in 4 women will be victims of rape while in college, a startling statistic that Penn State students hope to lower.

Borough Council, UPUA Discuss Student Representation

At the University Park Undergraduate Association weekly meeting on Wednesday, September 15th, Mayor Elizabeth Goreham and State College Borough Council President Ronald L. Filippelli spoke to the general assembly and the visitors about the possibility of establishing a formalized relationship between the Penn State student body and the Borough Council through student representation on the Council.

9/11 Memorial Service Tomorrow at Old Main

It's hard to believe that this Saturday will mark the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. To remember that day and honor those who lost their lives, a memorial service will be held at Old Main at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 10.

State Senate Seeks to Up Underage Drinking Fine

In his report at the University Park Undergraduate Association meeting on September 8th, UPUA President Christian Ragland shared his plans to attend a public hearing on Monday, September 13th by the State Senate Majority Policy Committee. During the hearing, the committee will discuss their proposal to raise the Pennsylvania underage drinking fine from $300 to $1,000.

UPUA Reaches out to Freshmen

Today from 3:00 to 5:00 in East Halls Quad, the University Park Undergraduate Association (UPUA) will be hosting Fresh Fest, a new event to familiarize the Class of 2014 with the UPUA. Fresh Fest will feature live music, free food, speakers, and the chance to meet their student representatives, including UPUA President Christian Ragland, and many other UPUA members.
